Referrals are required for all Active Duty, Active Duty family members, and TRICARE eligible patients. A limited number of appointments for Medicare eligible patients are available without referral.
The Audiology Clinic provides comprehensive testing to include:
Word recognition testing
Middle ear evaluations
Hearing aid evaluations for all patients. Hearing aids issued to active duty personnel. Retiree-At-Cost Hearing Aid Program (RACHAP) hearing aids may be purchased by retirees. Referrals made for family members of active duty and retired members.
Screening for Central Auditory Processing disorder in children 3-12 years old.
Limited repair of government issued/retiree purchased hearing aids.
Appointments may be obtained for clinical hearing evaluation by the audiologist. All new patients require a referral by a health care provider.
The hearing conservation program is required for all active duty Soldiers exposed to hazardous noise. This program is conducted during their birth month at Physical Exam Section, L. Mendel Rivers Reception Station for active duty Soldiers, Monday through Thursday, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. without appointment. Soldiers must have their health records and hearing protection when they report.
Receptee testing and earplug fitting are done at the L. Mendel Rivers Reception Station. Earplug fitting for permanent party soldiers is available at both locations.
