Occupational Therapy is open to all eligible beneficiaries including retirees and dependents.
Patients may be referred to the Occupational Therapy Service by their attending military or civilian physician. The primary function of this clinic is the rehabilitation and restoration of function for patients with hand and upper extremity injuries.
Other services provided by this clinic include the treatment of conditions such as arthritis, stroke or other neurological conditions which limit one's abilities to perform activities of daily living. These may include difficulty getting dressed, getting in/out of the bathtub, grasping objects or opening jars, etc. Adaptive devices or techniques are prescribed by this clinic to improve functioning in these areas.
The clinic also evaluates work station design and layouts for DoD employees located on Fort Jackson to reduce the risk of back problems, tendinitis or other cumulative trauma disorders.
